Our students spoke. We listened.

Fresh-Air-Adelphi-LogoToday, at Adelphi, we breathe and celebrate fresh air. And our Fresh Air campaign highlights the many initiatives that will significantly improve our environment, add to our extensive sustainability efforts and continue our focus on bettering the health and wellness of our community.

Fresh Air Campus

As part of a phase-in process to be completed by Fall 2016, the following steps will be taken to provide a healthy school and work environment for all.

Smoking (including cigars, e-cigarettes, hookah pens, e-hookahs, vaping pens, vape pipes, as well as any and all similar products) on the Garden City campus will be permitted only at four designated sites that will be clearly marked. No smoking will be allowed while traveling on walkways or traveling to or from sites where smoking is permitted.

Beginning in September 2015, there will be four designated sites on campus where smoking will be permitted. Beginning August 31, 2016, there will be three permanent sites where smoking will be permitted.

Designated smoking areas for 2015-2016:

  1. Northeast corner of Levermore Hall near South Avenue and small parking area
  2. Southern end of Eddy Hall
  3. Southwest corner of Alumni House
  4. North of Woodruff Hall and on the far eastern end of parking lot

Panther Share

Reducing carbon emissions is a great way to save our environment. And using Panther Share—Adelphi’s 511 Rideshare program—will certainly help that effort. Panther Share is an easy-to-use, reliable, cost-effective way to find a travel companion—for trips to the campus or off campus. Whether you go by car, van, bike or public transportation, or on foot, you won’t have to go alone. Using Panther Share saves you time and money.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Plug in and take charge. Electric vehicle charging stations have been installed in the underground parking garage situated on the south end of campus. Look for the EV Green signs in the garage, near the staircase opposite the Performing Arts Center (AUPAC). The stations are free and available to all who have an Adelphi-issued identification card. To use the stations, visit chargepoint.com and open an account. Once you open an account, just tap your card to get started. It’s that easy.
